The USDA recently revealed that Americans get
plenty of protein and carbohydrates, but often fall short on
key nutrients such as magnesium, potassium and vitamins C and
E.
You have landed on this page so you are
probably concerned about your health or the health of your
children and family. You are also concerned
about healthy eating. It is a fact that what we eat
can affect our health. Your health begins with what you
put into your body. The old Saying "Garbage in, Garbage
out" holds true for our bodies as well. On this site you will find a
community of people just like you. We can share
information and tips with each other on health and
nutrition. In the Forums section you can ask a question
and someone with an answer, can respond to you. Please
send us your articles or
articles you find so that all can benefit from the
information.
I recommend everyone
interested in their health go and see the Food inc Movie. We
can never know how much of the Food Inc. movie is truth but it
certainly gives us allot to think about when we put food in our
mouths. See the trailer here Food inc

"Americans spend 23 billion
dollars a year on Vitamins and Supplements." Are they getting
any real benefit? (National
institute of health 2006)
We know we are not eating
well, which is why we are consuming so many vitamins and
supplements. The fact is that most of these vitamins are
passing right through our
bodies. F
ruits and vegetables
contain an unparalleled array of nutritional elements
that offer numerous health benefits for our bodies. And,
the thousands of nutrients found in fruits and vegetables
work together in ways that science is just beginning to
explore. It is
not to late to start eating healthy now. The human body
can repair its self. So complex but so efficient. New
skin, new hair, new stomach wall, new blood cells, and
chemical balance are all normal wonderful functions of
our bodies. If we give our bodies the necessary materials
the body can use them to repair any damage that may have
already occurred or is occurring.
"Our Health depends on our nutrients. The more
fruits and vegetables you eat the less likely you are to
have a heart attack"( Dr. Richard Dubois president of the
medical association,
Atlanta)
The message
is clear: we need more of the healthful whole food nutrition of
fruits and vegetables in our diets, every day. It's the one
thing everyone agrees we can do to improve our health and
reduce our risk of chronic diseases, such as heart disease,
stroke, and cancer. Food is not just
for calories and energy. Food is for prevention. The scientific
literature has told us for a long, long time that fruits and
vegetables are the most important fuel we can put in our bodies
to make a difference in terms of prevention and health.
How Do I Start Eating
Healthy?
That is the question. You must
first realize that eating healthy will make you feel better,
look better, and you will be healthier. You
must understand and believe this. I am a cancer survivor
who has determined that given this second chance at
life, I am going to do what I can to be healthier.
Hopefully you don't need cancer to convince yourself you need
to live and eat healthier. How do you feel when you overeat?
Discomfort and pain? There is your proof that eating affects
the way you feel. There are three ways poison can get
into your body. 1. what
you put in your mouth.
2. what you breathe.
3. what you absorb through your skin.
What you eat is an every day decision. If you can just become
aware of the things that are no good for you to eat then you
can instantly change for the better by not eating them. I
recently discovered that my 6 year old son is allergic to milk.
He has had a chronic cough which was caused by milk. I have
taken all dairy products out of his diet and within a few
days he was cured. I encourage you to look around this web
site, read the articles, comment in
the forums, and email us with new
articles. Please share with us your story so that we can all
learn from each other. There is so much information out there
about what is good to eat and what is not. It can be
contradictory and confusing. Let us find the truth and live
better.....More

Do you know about Carbohydrates?
Carbohydrates can be broken down
into two main categories; simple and complex. Sodas,
candy and even fruits contain simple sugars while
whole grains, fruits and cereals contain complex
carbs. The main difference between the two groups are
their chemical structures. Simple sugars are made up
of a few sugar molecules while complex carbs are made
up of hundreds and even thousands of these molecules

come mainly from animal sources such as meat and
dairy. At room temperature, saturated fats are solid.

Do you know about Proteins?
Proteins are made of amino
acids that are folded together. There are essential
amino acids - those that our body cannot make, and
non essential amino acids - those that our body can
make. Proteins that are made up of all the essential
amino acids are said to be complete while those that
lack in one or more essential amino acid are
incomplete. Complete proteins come from sources such

Is the Sun
Bad For
You? Do you shun
the sun? People who wear sunscreen, live in northern
climates or have darker skin may not receive optimal
levels of vitamin D, which is made following exposure
to sunlight. Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium
and may also promote ovarian, breast, prostate, heart
and colon health. Reider suggests 1,000 IU of vitamin
D daily for people who spend most of their time
indoors and those who don't synthesize vitamin D
easily, such as darker- skinned individuals and the
elderly. Vitamin D food sources include milk and

Do You Know About
Omega 3 Fish
oils? Omega 3 fish oils are
a substance that can be found in the bodies of fish.
However, eating fresh fish is no longer recommended. The
mercury levels that are prevalent in almost all fresh fish
these days can be very detrimental to your health. However,
companies have manufactured fish oil that is mercury free
by processing the oils that naturally occur in the fish.
Mahi is a great source fish. Omega 3
